Motive Competition

No More LandminesThis contest will run from October 1st through December 31st, 2007, and is open to all children and young adults, ages 18 and under, anywhere in the world. We invite and encourage schools to promote this contest with their students and create a further awareness of the ongoing efforts to remove landmines from the planet.

Entrants can select one of two themes for this art competition. The first is Fragments - a study of small parts that make up a whole. The second choice is Survivors - things or people that survive hardship. The entries should be submitted electronically, and the finalists will be judged by the sculptor Blake, creator of his own Fragments series of sculptures.

As art takes many forms, entrants are encouraged to create a painting, a photograph or image, a sculpture, a poem, or a short story. You may submit as many pieces as you like, but each submission will be considered a single entry in the contest. In the case of a sculpture, please take several photos of the piece, and submit the photos.

Please accompany each submission with a short explanation of the entry in English, for review by the judges.

The contest is divided into two age groups - under 12, and 12 to 18.  Prizes are allocated to each age group for first and second place.

Under 12:  First place - £100, Second place - £50

12 to 18:  First place - £150, Second place - £100
